books, books, books

I've been extremely stressed lately, and I've been really aching to relieve my stress with a good book. Mrs. Sylvia gave me a notecard with all of her suggestions :-p but I would love some more! I'm thinking I might do this often...not just with books, but music, things to do, favorite stores, etc... Anywho, today I'm doing books, and I would love to know what you're reading, what you like to read, what you reccommend, and all of that good stuff. Real quick, a few of my favorites:

:: A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly (Published as A Gathering Light in the UK)
:: The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory
:: The Company by Robert Littell

There are so many others I could suggest, but those are on the top of my head. I'm currently reading The Company very, very slowly. It's 900 pages, and I can only handle about 4 pages a night because it puts so much information into your head. But it's good. It certainly keeps me occupied.

But, please post your suggestions. There's hardly anything I like more than a good book on a stressful day to sit down and curl up with (with a mug of hot chocolate by my side of course :-p). Hope you are all having a good holiday season. Only 9 more days until Christmas! :stresses:

God bless,
lv

Evy! :hugs: Ah, you always seem to pop up at the most random times. hehe. How are you? Ah, thanks for the recommendation. I shall certainly look into it. I'm sure anything you find unbelievable is truly that. :)

Will you email me? I tried to email you at (what I thought was) your latest address, but it said that it failed. Anywho, we need to catch up. ;)

Love you! ^_^

I always have to recommend "The Hours" by Michael Cunningham, which is one of the most amazing books I've ever read. Though it's not hard to read (and I'm usually into heavier literature like Virginia Woolf) Michael Cunningham finds a wonderful way to depict people's feelings. I think it's a good read for people who haven't and for those who have already seen the movie.

Let me think, what else could I suggest? If you're into thrillers I'd definitely pick "Illuminati" or "The Davinci Code" by Dan Brown. Two books I haven't read yet but that are sitting on my bookshelf waiting to be read sometime (hopefully soon).

And if you haven't read it yet, you should definitely read "Desert Flower" by Waris Dirie. I wrote about Waris in my blog, remember? She's one of the women I deeply admire and her book is great. Shocking but nothing but the truth about modern-day Africa. It's a short read but definitely worth it.

I hope you're able to find some rest now after your stressful finals and to fully enjoy the Christmas spirit. I'm definitely happy to be home and to be seeing esp. my sis and my bestest friends again, and I'm looking forward to getting some rest before I have to start working on a few projects again, that I have to finish over the break.

Anyway, my laptop crashed again and since I cannot be bothered to spend the very limited time I have with my friends on setting up my computer for the gazillionth time I probably won't be able to update in a while. :(

Anyway, Marie and I will also be sending something over but it will certainly *not* be there in time for Christmas, so don't be mad at us.

Take care, hun, and give my love to your family!

Fahrenheit 451,
All Quiet on the Western Front,
The Apocrypha (the books not in the Protestant Bible)(try reading Bel and the Dragon, 1st and 2nd Macabees, book of Judith, book of Susanna are some of the good ones in there),

MEL :: Ah, The Hours is a fabulous book. I read it before the movie, and enjoyed it more as far as the detail goes. The acting in the movie was, of course, superb.

I never read the Davinci Code, though it seems everyone else did. Haha. I did read Brown's book, Digital Fortress and it was awesome! That's another good recommendation, by the way.

I would love to read the Waris Dirie book when I have time to sit down and get into a book like that. It's so hard during the school year for me to really get into anything. But I will definitely look into it.

Check your emails, love, as soon as possible. I will be sending your present shortly. :)

Merry Christmas!

EVY :: Hehehe. Oh, wow. I've missed you so much. Do please email me. It will make my day, and week, and probably year for that matter. :-p Actually, I think I have our last conversation saved...from October of '03!! Love you :)
